- Clinically Isolated Syndrome (CIS)
- The first neurological episode, which may be the beginning of Multiple Sclerosis.
- Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS)
- The most common type, characterized by relapses followed by periods of recovery or improvement.
- Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (SPMS)
- Symptoms gradually worsen over time, and periods of recovery become less frequent.
- Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (PPMS)
- A continuous worsening of the condition without clear periods of remission.
- Radiologically Isolated Syndrome (RIS)
- Signs of the disease appearing on MRI scans without obvious symptoms.
Stages of Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple Sclerosis progresses through several stages, beginning with silent disease activity that may gradually worsen over time
- Sub-clinical Phase
- The presence of disease activity without obvious symptoms, or the appearance of Clinically Isolated Syndrome (CIS).
- High-risk Phase
- The beginning of symptoms and signs associated with Multiple Sclerosis.
- Relapses occur followed by periods of recovery or remission.
- The beginning of symptoms and signs associated with Multiple Sclerosis.
- Progressive Phase
- Gradual worsening of the condition with the disappearance of recovery periods over time.
